Does anyone else ever get the feeling that women just used to turn picnic baskets upside down on their heads and call them hats?

I have to admit - as much as I LOVE vintage fashion and wish it was still in style to be so dressed up, I'm kind of relieved that hats have gone the way of the world. They're pretty to look at, but I hate having things on my head.
