This makes me think of when my Dad moved to the States from Taiwan in the 1970s and my parents (who were still dating at that time) spent a year communicating via nothing but postal mail because international phone calls were still prohibitively expensive. Wow, imagine paying $1.35 in 1950s dollars to call St. Paul from New York. Makes me so happy for Skype.

I'm a collector of 1940s-60s just-about-anything, I have enough old snapshots to wallpaper a small house, and I'm saving my pennies so that one day I can have my very own roller rink.
