Yes, people did wear suits to sell toys. I distinctly remember being in a store in Manhattan in the 50s and the man was selling I'm not sure what but I recall it being an invisible bunny. He handed me the coat and told me to hold it tight in my hand. I was 5. I did what I was told. And yes, he was in a suit. It was all very Mad Men back then.

I'm a collector of 1940s-60s just-about-anything, I have enough old snapshots to wallpaper a small house, and I'm saving my pennies so that one day I can have my very own roller rink.
